These forms of nicotine replacement can be purchased over the counter. Other forms, such as a nasal spray or inhaler, can only be purchased with a doctor's prescription. While nicotine replacement therapy will cost just as much as a day's worth of cigarettes, you will only need to use replacement therapy for a short time; additionally, you will be leading a much healthier lifestyle once you quit smoking, which is even more important than saving money.

Between 70 percent and 90 percent of smokers say that they do not quit smoking because of the symptoms associated with withdrawal.
