Magnesium deficiency symptoms can include any of the following: kidney stones, irregular heartbeat, leg muscle cramps, anxiety, and sleep disorders. Magnesium is one of the most important minerals needed by the body to function properly, yet virtually no one is aware of this fact. Magnesium is needed to regulate approximately 300 different chemical reactions within the body, many of which control important functions such as protein synthesis and absorption of calcium.

If you exhibit any magnesium deficiency symptoms, your body may not be able to properly produce energy, create new cells, activate the necessary vitamins, or have proper muscle functionality. Most often, the cause of a magnesium deficiency is a lack of dietary magnesium; however, certain behaviors and foods can deplete your body's store of magnesium: coffee, alcohol, soda, smoking, diabetes, and diuretics. How To Spot Magnesium Deficiency Symptoms

If you are often fatigued and don't have the energy you used to, it may be a sign of low magnesium levels. Magnesium regulates potassium levels within the body and make sure our adrenaline-producing glands function properly. If these processes are inhibited, the deficiency will manifest itself as a sense of constant fatigue.

A deficiency in magnesium can also cause painful and frequent leg cramps, as well as insomnia. Our nerve cells need magnesium to keep them calm and running smoothly. Without the proper level of magnesium, these cells behave erratically and can cause you to become highly sensitive to noise and light, as well as give you a general feeling of nervousness.
