Weight Loss CoachWritten by Jeremy Horelick As most who've gone on more than one diet and exercise plan know, weight loss is one of the most difficult processes there is. Beyond the physical aspects, there are deep-rooted emotional issues that often come to the surface. Since it can be difficult to stay motivated mentally and physically, it might be a good idea to look into a weight loss coach. A weight loss coach can give you practical tips for slimming down, even if you've tried and failed at countless diets in the past. One of the biggest problems behind obesity in this country is the dissemination of misinformation. Much of what's out there sounds like common sense, but is actually detrimental to a smart all-around health regimen. Take the famous "food pyramid" as an example. The chart overtly states that people should consume 10-12 servings of bread and pasta each day, even though these foods are loaded with carbohydrates, many of which are from refined sugars. So why is poor advice included on the back of hundreds of food products? Because the pyramid is sponsored by the Agriculture Department, which has a vested interest in the nationwide consumption of simple carbs. Your Weight Loss Coach Can Shatter MythsYour weight loss coach may not be a registered dietitian, but that doesn't mean that he or she isn't qualified to help you. Since weight loss is one of the most universal goals among clients, life coaches have been forced to study up on food and exercise. As a result, many health coaches are able to shatter commonly held misconceptions such as the one detailed above. But your weight loss coach will do more than just counsel you on how to eat. He or she will be able to get you on a steady, manageable exercise routine as well. Most people who quickly abandon their workouts do so because they set unreasonable goals to begin with. A good coach, however, will help you establish attainable ones, then see you through until you reach them. A coach can also be your personal motivator. They can help you discover your eating patterns, the underlying roots of any overeating, and help you to change those patterns. For weight loss that is healthy and maintainable, a coach might be worth the investment.
