Those who are interested in improving their libido may want to consider using certain foods and beverages. For instance, coffee and tea can be very beneficial for libido because they have caffeine, which boosts energy levels and alertness. Contrary to popular belief, alcohol can have negative effects on libido. Alcohol may help people to lose their inhibitions, but it is also a depressant, so sexual stimulation takes extra effort when alcohol is involved. Other options are available for those who are interested in effective aphrodisiacs.

Foods that Affect Libido

Many different foods are known as aphrodisiacs. Some of the most well-known options include oysters, celery, chilis, coffee, and chocolate. Chocolate actually contains an active ingredient, called phenyl ethylamine that is natural and effective for stimulating sex drive. Other notable foods include grapes, caviar, avocados, bananas, almonds, and walnuts. Certain herbs and spices, such as ginseng, fennel, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and saffron, are also valuable for stimulating libido. Many unique dishes can be created with these ingredients for a highly stimulating meal.

Many dietary supplements are beneficial for increasing libido as well as maintaining good overall health. For instance, ginko biloba is a highly effective antioxidant. It also increases oxygen supply to the brain and sexual organs while improving circulation. Horny goat weed and maca can be taken by men and women to restore sexual desire and increase stamina for sexual performance. Vitamins A, B, C, and E are also advantageous for libido. Taking regular vitamin supplements can help to provide the body with doses of libido stimulating ingredients.

Sometimes, oils and fragrances are used to stimulate libido. This is a form of aromatherapy. Natural oils can be burned, added to bath water, or used as massage oil. Scented candles can also be purchased to produce certain stimulating scents. Herbal oils and fragrances can be worn externally on the skin as well. Options of aphrodisiac oils to consider include vanilla, sandlewood, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, cardamom, amber, and tangerine.
