When you are trying to choose antioxidant products to supplement your diet, look for formulations that are high in vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, lycopene, and selenium. Foods that contain high amounts of these nutrients are tomatoes, citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, carrots, spinach, ketchup, nuts, and basically most brightly colored fruits and veggies. Remember, when choosing fruit and vegetables, it is always best to go for fresh, and if that is not possible, frozen works as well.

Cooking these foods destroys some of the nutritional value in them. Therefore, if you can help it, eat them in their raw form, or steam them if you prefer them cooked. If you know you are not getting enough of these vitamins and minerals in your diet through food, it becomes essential to supplement with antioxidant products.

Buying Antioxidant Products Online

Don't fret if you are finding it challenging to include enough fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet that contain antioxidants. You can still get what you need through antioxidant products that contain the nutrients that are vital to good health. While many people think it is better to load up on antioxidants in order to reap the benefits associated with their use, there is such a concept as too much of a good thing.

The Food and Drug Administration has recommendations out that guide consumers who are supplementing their diets with antioxidant products. It is wise not to exceed the recommended daily amount of these vitamins and minerals, because doing so can actually have an adverse effect on the body. Always make sure when you are buying supplements online that the formulations sold are within the FDA guidelines.
