To find an arthritis treatment that works is the dream of many individuals that are suffering with intense pain. There are basically two types of arthritis. One is rheumatoid arthritis that is an autoimmune disease that in its severe form is marked by joint deformity, extensive muscle wasting, and bone and cartilage destruction. The other is osteoarthritis in which the joints undergo degenerative changes.

The result of either of these is intense - sometimes unmanageable - pain. There has been a lot of research done to find help for this intense suffering. One of the treatments that is recognized as a possibility is fish oil. The omega-3 fatty acids have an effect on the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Even though it does not slow the progression, it can augment the overall effectiveness of treatment.

The Advance in Arthritis Treatment Is Ongoing

It has been long established that supplements such as glucosamine is effective in treating both the symptoms and progression of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis quite often involves supporting joints such as the hip, knee, or spine and thus causes much discomfort and even debilitation in movement. If not treated and controlled, it is often necessary to have surgical procedures such as joint replacements to relieve the pain.
