It seems that we have become such a fat phobic society that we are not taking in enough of the essential fatty acids that our bodies need to function properly. We are so worried about ingesting too many "bad" fats that a side effect of this health choice is we are not getting enough of the "good" fats. Fortunately, there are some wonderful essential fatty acid supplements on the market that can help fill in the gaps that our unbalanced diets leave out.

While it is entirely true that you should limit saturated fats in your diet, you should also realize that there are some fats that are fundamental to the way the body functions. Another great point to consider is that when you take essential fatty acid supplements, you do not have to eat food you don't care for, nor do you have to ingest unenjoyable calories. Many people do not like fish, and to force it down for the sake of health benefits might be considered a form of torture. With the right supplements, fish-haters have no excuse but to get their daily dose of essential fatty acids.
