Nutritional Guidelines

There are basically two types of information generally included in nutritional guidelines. We all need to know what is needed for human beings on a daily basis to stay healthy. Then we need to consider such factors as age, gender, and level of activity. In addition, many health problems can successfully be addressed with nutrition. This needn't mean that each member of a family should be following a totally different nutritional plan, but that certain modifications could be made so that everyone is getting what they need as far as possible.

Following Nutritional Guidelines

A very important golden rule of nutrition, that should be adhered to with all nutritional guidelines, is to include something from of every food group every day. Eating large amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables is undoubtedly beneficial for everyone. The enzymes and nutrients made available to the body from fresh, as in uncooked, vegetables and fruits, can have a dramatic effect on energy levels and health, no matter what a person's present state of health.

Over the years many health food enthusiasts have come to see a high raw diet as the desirable norm for all of us. But it is also very necessary to include healthy grains and dairy, fish, meat and poultry for optimum health. Dietary guidelines that don't include protein, or that exclude carbohydrates entirely, should not be adhered to for long periods of time as they can result in nutritional deficiencies that are very detrimental to the way you look and feel.

However good your nutritional guidelines, and however good your diet, you could still not see the super health we're all looking for. Of course there are other influences on health; it's not just a matter of diet. We must get enough sleep and exercise too. But if, despite your very best efforts, your goal is still a long way off, you might consider adding nutritional supplements to your dietary program for a boost.
