Generally speaking, men use weight gainers much more often than women do. In fact, many bodybuilders take sports nutrition products to help them gain an edge over their competition, by increasing lean muscle mass and dropping body fat. The majority of weight gainer supplements contain high levels of proteins, amino acids, and vitamins and minerals.

However, weight gainers are typically low in carbohydrates. In addition, the anabolic mineral, chromium, is also present in higher levels in these nutritional supplements, as it is believed to help preserve muscle mass. These formulas come in powder form and can be added to water or milk and drunk as a snack or for a meal replacement. However, most men who are trying to gain weight use the weight gainers in addition to their regular diet.

Remember, weight gainers also contain fat, although not in high amounts. Certain people should not take weight gainers, such as diabetics, who may experience increased insulin levels due to certain ingredients in these supplements. For this reason, all people of every fitness level should speak to their doctor before taking any type of weight gainer supplement.

In addition, this product contains higher levels of iron, which can be potentially harmful to children, and even fatal to children under the age of six. As a result, all products containing iron should be kept out of reach of children. For best results, this supplement needs to be taken one to two times per day.
