Essential Amino Acids

Essential amino acids are those in human nutrition that are necessary for growth and development. They are amino acids that cannot be produced by the body. The only source is in the food that is consumed. There are nonessential amino acids that are produced by the body and not required as dietary intake. It is important to know that amino acids are the base root of proteins and proteins are vital to every cell in the body.

There are approximately eighty amino acids that can be found in nature. Of these, only twenty are required for metabolism. Of these twenty, the ones that cannot be produced by the body constitute the essential amino acids that must be provided by dietary intake. Since most people do not eat enough of the right foods to supply these elements, supplements become a regular part of the daily routine.

What Are Essential Amino Acids?

The essential amino acids are: histidine (necessary for tissue repair), isoleucine, leucine (essential for growth and metabolism), lysine (needed for tissue repair), methionine, cysteine (provides sulfur in metabolism), phenylalanine, tyrosine, threonine, tryptophan (necessary for transmission of nerve impulses), and valine.

There is increased interest in living healthy and that includes the right amount of exercise, rest, and intake of the nutrients that will support the body. A supplement that includes top-quality amino acids is important to consider as a daily routine to be certain that the body has available all the cellular support needed. Every essential amino acid has a job to do and it takes all of them working together to provide the best opportunity for good health.
