Natrol Melatonin

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that promotes sleep. Natrol, a supplements company, sells this hormone to help people fend off insomnia. People can use melatonin to establish regular sleep patterns after experiencing jet lag or changes in their schedules. The body produces melatonin in response to changes in light; it makes this hormone when it gets dark, which is why people generally sleep better at night.

People who have worked graveyard shifts may have noticed that they and their workers felt lethargic, despite sleeping eight hours during the day. The darkness outside and internal production of melatonin are the primary reasons for this. Although people do not need more than eight hours of sleep, the melatonin in their bloodstreams makes them feel almost like they are sleepwalking.

Natrol makes melatonin in both pill and liquid forms. The body absorbs fluids more rapidly than solids. Thus, people who take melatonin pills should take them approximately an hour and a half before they want to fall asleep. The liquid can be ingested twenty minutes before bedtime.

Melatonin and Dreams

Melatonin users often report falling into deep sleeps, and many of them comment on the nature and power of their dreams. Surveys show that most melatonin users report increased dream activity, and 88 percent of them say they experience more vivid dreams after taking the supplement; pleasant dreams seem even more agreeable, and strange dreams become more surreal. In addition, people who take melatonin often say they remember more of their dreams.
