Some people prefer powdered vitamins to those sold as tablets or capsules. Most powdered supplements contain 100 percent vitamins and minerals, whereas pills often contain non-digestible binding agents. People mix powder with water, juice, or even healthy shakes. Many juice companies fortify their products, and people can do the same thing at home.

Advantages of Vitamin Powders

Using powders, consumers can control how much they add to their drinks. Most people do not split their pills in halves or quarters. Some supplements, like calcium, work best when ingested in regular intervals as opposed to all at once. People who prepare drinks themselves can add one third of their calcium to glasses of water or juice at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This enables the body to absorb the nutrient better.

Powdered vitamins completely dissolve in fluids, which are more easily digested than solids. It takes a person's stomach only ten to twenty minutes to fully absorb liquids, which means that vitamins in this form make their way into the bloodstream faster. Some studies suggest that people actually excrete the majority of solid vitamins pills, meaning that all those vitamins literally get flushed down the toilet.

Vitamin B powders make sense for people who exercise. These nutrients are said to boost energy levels. By mixing these powders with water or juice, people make themselves effective and fast-working energy drinks.
