In this day of carbohydrate obsession, people tend to forget the importance of eating a balanced variety of healthy and wholeseome foods. Many different studies have examined the long term result of these low carb diets, and the results might surprise you. Many people end up gaining back the weight and more as soon as they start eating grains, breads and other carbohydrates.

Many doctors and diet experts suggest a more well-rounded approach to weight loss and weight maintenance. Some experts suggest eating several smaller meals throughout the day, while others suggest increasing your exercise, and avoiding certain foods. What most experts can agree on, is the need for low-fat living. One of the best ways to achieve a low-fat lifestyle is to eat whole foods like grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat meats and other low fat snacks.

Eating Healthy For Life

When it comes to eating low fat foods, you need to find a system that works for the rest of your life. Anyone who has ever been on a crash diet knows how hard it is to keep the weight off once you start eating normal foods again. I recently lost twenty pounds, using diet pills and a low-carb approach to eating. As soon as my diet ended I tried to go back to my old way of eating, and was shocked at how quickly I gained all of the weight back plus ten more pounds.

I finally sought the advice of a nutritionist. One of the first things she told me was to avoid fad diets and other trends, and just stick to low-fat, healthy foods. When you feed your body the right combination of items from all the food groups, you will find that it functions better than it ever has before.
