We've all enjoyed a lollipop at some point or another, but how many of us have tasted a specialty, gourmet lollipop? If you haven't had the chance to taste one of these delicious candy treats you're missing out. There are a number of different types of gourmet candies to choose from, including lollipops.

As someone who loves the taste of sour treats, I personally love the kind of lollipop that makes your mouth pucker. I like super sour treats because they take a long time to eat, which means less calories over time. I also know that I can't eat too many of these treats without upsetting the roof of my mouth. These factors help to ensure that I don't overeat daily snacks when I eat my favorite treats.

Adjusting to the Atkins Lifestyle

In this day of low carbohydrate diet plans, it's important to find treats that don't spike blood sugar levels, or make you fee lite-headed. If you're the type of person who reads the labels, it's a good idea to look for treats that contain somewhere between five and 15 grams of carbohydrates per serving. Most of the gourmet lollipops on the market today have little to no fat grams per serving.

When people first started doing the Atkins program they allowed themselves to eat as much fat as they wanted. This kind of careless eating really doesn't make sense in the long run. The last thing you need is to increase your cholesterol levels or increase your risk for heart disease while trying to lose weight. Instead, it's a good idea to seek out low carb foods that are also moderately low in fats.
