Healthy Candies

If you're someone who simply needs a little candy in her diet, you can find a number of different healthy candies. Let's be honest, most sugary snacks should be consumed in moderation. That's why it's so important to find candies that really satisfy your sweet tooth. I know I have tried to eat low fat snacks and low sugar sweets only to realize that I ate twice as much just to get that "satisfied" feeling I was looking for.

There really is no such thing as "healthy candies," but some choices are definitely better than others. One of my favorite snacks is red licorice. I like it because I enjoy the texture, and I like the fact that it is a low fat food option. I also like red licorice, because I know exactly how much I can eat without blowing my diet. I try not to eat more than one vine without checking to see if I am satisfied enough to stop eating.

Finding a Healthy Balance

I cannot stress to you enough the importance of avoiding high sugar snacks on a daily basis. Sometimes it's more important to show self-control than it is to reward yourself for sticking to your diet. I prefer to stick to my diet for long periods of time, and then occasionally eat special treats. I notice when I eat less sugary snacks during the week, my cravings for them decreases over time.

When you eat hard candies like peppermints and sour candies you don't have to worry about eating high fat snacks. The only thing you need to concern yourself with is serving size, and portion control. Sometimes I eat candies instead of eating whole foods, but I do try to eat fruits and vegetables at least three times a day. When you strike a balance between processed foods and whole foods, you create a balanced diet that is ideal for weight management and longevity.
