Low Carb DessertsWritten by Rylee Newton Thanks to the popularity of the Atkins diet and other low carbohydrate diets, there are more low-carb desserts on the market today than ever before. As someone who has lived through some thirty years of different dieting trends, I have witnessed a number of different fads in the dieting world. I know how easily women and men can be fooled by the idea of easy weight loss. It wasn't until the last couple of years that I realized the best way to lose weight is to change your behavior. Even if you lose a bunch of weight by cutting back on carbs and eating a great deal of protein, it's still extremely difficult to see long term results. The best way to lose weight is to find a system that works for you for the rest of your life. Low Carb Snacks and DessertsLast year I paid a great deal of money to enroll in a new diet program that focused on complying with a very low carbohydrate lifestyle. I was surprised to learn that during the weight loss phase of things, I really couldn't eat that much fruit. For many years fruits like strawberries and cantaloupe have been my snack of choice. I had no idea just how many carbohydrates these fruits contained. It wasn't until I consulted with a professional nutritionist that I learned just how many carbs these fruits contained. Thanks to the abundance of low carb desserts, snacks and prepared meals, you can now find a number of different options that fit into your low carb lifestyle. I have come to accept that the best way for me to maintain my goal weight is to avoid white flour and other carb heavy foods with little to no nutritional value. I have created a diet plan that includes mostly animal proteins, vegetables and a small amount of fruits. I enjoy a number of different protein bars that contain chocolate and peanut butter for flavoring. I try to pick snacks that contain less than 15 grams of carbohydrates per serving as a general rule.
