Sexual problems are among the more devastating symptoms of early menopause. As estrogen decreases, whether naturally or suddenly through surgery, vaginal tissues lose elasticity and lubrication. This can make intercourse painful, and can even lead to tears in the vaginal tissue. These problems add to the already considerable emotional response that many women have to early menopause.
