Reducing fats, both animal and vegetable, reduces the amount of estrogen being produced in the body. The higher levels of fiber in a vegetarian diet help to bind excess estrogen for elimination.

Though this is a major lifestyle change, requiring the virtual elimination of all fats and animal products, including dairy, these researchers recommend that you try it for two months and see if it helps. The lowered levels of estrogen in the body also help in other symptoms of PMS, including mood swings and water retention. If you decide to continue with this diet, you should take Vitamin B-12 supplements.
