HVAC filters (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) are used on every type of system that forces air throughout the home, office, mall, or other indoor space. Air that is circulated in an enclosed area must be cleaned. Otherwise, it would just continue to pick up more and more particles of dust, pollen, pet dander, hair, bacteria, mold, and any other minute particles.

HVAC filters are effective in removing various levels of pollutants. Many choices are available and the particular type of contaminant will determine which filter is the most effective. Some work environments need a filter specifically designed to remove smoke and dust while other areas may need to target mold or bacteria.

Quality of HVAC Filters

Most homes have a variety of contaminants requiring the best MERV rating possible. This rating is set by ASHRAE and defines the efficiency of filters for different types of pollutants based on the micron size of the particle. It takes a MERV rating of 12 to clean and sanitize the air by removing mold spores, bacteria, and other stubborn health offenders.

There are many HVAC filters meeting the standard of MERV 12. These filters are available as replacements on just about any unit. If a standard size does not fit, it is possible to order customized filters for any heating or cooling system. Lose the pollen, bacteria, and mold in just a matter of hours with an air-cleansing filter.
