Bathroom Sinks

Bathroom sinks are, in many ways, similar to kitchen sinks. Many are made from the same type of material and metal as kitchen sinks. Some options for the bathroom are not available for the kitchen. Some materials do not hold up to the heavy use of a kitchen sink. Bathrooms can have sinks that are made from a more delicate material such as vitreous china. This one material is available in many colors.

Bathroom sinks are made in a variety of shapes. This option makes it possible to design the layout of the countertop around an unusual shape. If space is limited, a corner sink can be installed. Other shapes include flowing curves, angular forms, oval, round, and even reproductions of Victorian-style sinks. The variety of shapes and colors can update any bathroom.

New Styles in Bathroom Sinks

A popular option for bathroom sinks is to install freestanding pedestal sinks in a bathroom with limited space. If the bathroom does not have room for the standard bath cabinet and countertop sink, let a freestanding sink add beauty and space. They come in a variety of shapes, colors, and designs from shell-like patterns to solid bright or pastel colors. The accessibility to plumbing and the availability of space will determine the type of sink that will work best.

Fixtures for the sink should match the fixtures in the shower or tub. A wide range of fixtures is available to consider. There are brass, copper, stainless steel, porcelain, and other types of choices. You can have a contemporary appeal or traditional styling in the choice of fixtures. If a new sink is in your future, consider carefully the other changes that may be necessary. These include the possibility of new flooring and wall covering if the sink replacement requires changing the cabinetry.
