Kitchen Sink

When it comes to choosing a kitchen sink the debate is very heated. In fact, you may need to invest more time and energy in choosing this part of your kitchen than the rest of it put together. Should you go for something minimal and sleek? Or do you need a more accommodating place to do the dishes, with space for a saucepan under the tap? It's very important to consider the way you use your kitchen when choosing the sink.

What kind of size and shape you need are by no means the only conundrums you'll face either. Do you need a special color to go with your scheme, or will stainless steel look just great? Will you be going for an undermount sink for a sleek, modern look? Or will an overmount be the best solution for your needs?

Kitchen Sink Material

In addition to stainless steel, you also have the choice of vitreous enamel and fireclay kitchen sinks. Then there are many of the new acrylic or solid surface materials, such as Corian for example. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, and a choice must be made. Stainless steel is probably the easiest material to take care of, and it really does shrug off most of the bad treatment commonly meted out in the kitchen. Some of us will go for other materials for their inherent beauty though.

You can get a kitchen sink in just about any configuration. One, two and three bowl sinks are all common. You can fit two single bowl sinks next to each other, or you can opt for the single sink if you don't have that much to do in the kitchen. When making such a choice, however, make sure that there's no chance your use of the kitchen is going to change, or you may find you need to change your kitchen sink sooner than you planned.
