Kitchen sinks are probably the most used fixture in houses everywhere. The preparation of food and the cleanup that follows is an ongoing activity several times a day, every day of the week. The designs available are astoundingly different from the simple one bowl, one faucet sink of the past. The days of every kitchen sink looking like the neighbor's have given way to everyone expressing their own personality through the kitchen decor.

Today, there are kitchen sinks with multiple bowls that come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Some have cutting boards and integral drainers built into them to expedite cleaning and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables. Some sinks come with soap dispensers, sprayers, and special dispensers for hot water.

Finding the Best Kitchen Sinks

Stainless steel is a material that has been used to make sinks for many years. It comes in a variety of sizes and thicknesses. The higher the gauge of stainless steel, the thinner it will be. The best thickness for durability is at least an 18-gauge. It will resist scratching and denting better than the thinner gauge stainless.

If colored kitchen sinks catch your eye, there are many available in enamel on cast iron. Steel sinks also come in colors. The steel and cast iron sinks are very heavy and must have a countertop that can handle the weight. Rimless sinks are very popular as are the sinks made of quartz. The variety of patterns and colors make choosing a sink for your kitchen a real adventure.
