Although most people think of a towel warmer as a luxury, in cold weather it is actually more of a necessity in cold, damp areas of the country. Stepping out of the bath or shower an enveloping yourself in a warm, soft, fluffy bath towel is certainly one of life's little pleasures. Deciding that you want a warmer for your towels is one thing. Making a choice from the bewildering array available is quite another.

You can find many types of wall mounted towel warmer, and this is by far the most common type. However, there are also floor mounted ones, or freestanding. What you choose will depend on how much space you have, how many towels you want warmed, and what's most convenient for your bathroom arrangement.

Types of Towel Warmer

Some types of towel warmers work from your central heating, and are commonly referred to as hydronic, but the most popular type is the electric one. This will work year round, regardless of whether or not you're using your heating. Your towels will need to be warm and dry in summer too, and once you get used to the pleasure, you'll never want to be without it.

Although stainless steel is overwhelmingly the most common and practical material for a towel warmer, you can find one in any material that will suit your bathroom scheme. You can find a chrome one, a brass one, and even gold for the upscale market. Some of these are not quite so robust as stainless steel though, so do take a close look at how it will be used.
