Loft beds are available in a number of styles. Building one can make an excellent project for a father or mother and son to complete together. If, however, you are not handy or your son has no interest in working on a construction project with you, you can always opt to purchase a loft bed that is already constructed.

Loft beds are available in a number of styles and sizes. Essentially any mattress can be incorporated into a loft bed, so there is no need for you to go out and purchase a new mattress. Most loft beds, however, do not accommodate a box spring.

You can find loft beds suitable for boys made from both wood and metal. These frames often look like typical bed frames. The bed frame, however, is elevated above the ground by posts, providing a few feet of clearance underneath the bed. For a cozy environment, your son might toss a bean bag underneath the bed. Alternatively, it can provide even more space for him to stow his toys.

Factors about Loft Beds to Keep in Mind

As with any bed that you are considering purchasing, be sure that it is comfortable and sturdy. The last thing with which you want to be concerned is the supporting frame collapsing at some point during the night. Your child may also need to exercise caution when sitting up, especially if his bedroom has a low ceiling. You should weigh these factors carefully when deciding if a loft bed is appropriate.
