Loft Bed Frames

Loft bed frames are available in a variety of styles that should be able to accommodate your current mattress. Some frames are sold as kits that you can assemble in your home--preferably with the help of at least one other person. If you prefer something that you can more easily customize, some wooden frames are unfinished, allowing you to stain or paint the frame to match the design and palette of the room in which the bed will be placed.

If you decide to purchase a loft bed, you should carefully measure the mattress that you plan to place in the bed. The same style bed frame is usually available for different sizes of mattresses, so there's no reason not to get the ideal fit. It is most important when purchasing a loft bed frame to pay attention to the depth of your mattress so that the side rails are higher than the surface of the mattress.

Loft Bed Frames May Include Storage Space

Other loft bed frames include not only the loft bed, but also storage space. Some feature cabinets and drawers that are built underneath the loft bed. Others may even include a desk surface, making the loft bed one of the only pieces of furniture that you will need in your bedroom.

If your intent is simply to create extra space and you are not concerned about the aesthetics of your loft, it can be very easy for you to construct a loft bed. All that you will need to do is find materials that will elevate a bed frame and hold the weight of the mattress and the people sleeping on it. You can find basic plans for constructing a bed frame online, or modify an existing bed frame to fit into the support structure that you have built.
