Fan ControlsWritten by Charles Peacock Installing fans in your rooms or ducts is a great way to increase the air circulation throughout your house. Installing a fan is easy enough (most are simple plug-in models that don't require any tools), but the problem of controlling the fan still remains. There are many different types of fan control systems out there, from remote controls to traditional wall-mounted switches and knobs. Varieties of Fan ControlsThe type of fan control you should buy really depends on how often you're going to be using the fan. If you're looking to control a simple fan that is mounted inside a stovepipe or air duct, you'll most likely want some sort of automated control system. In the case of a stove fan, there are plenty of cheap automated controls out there that will switch the fan on when the stovepipe reaches a certain temperature. For duct fans, it's also a good idea to go with something that is automated or that is at least hooked into your main heating or air conditioning system. Fans generate significant noise, so it's good to only have the fan running when it needs to be. Automated duct fans are able to turn on and turn off only when your heater or air conditioner is blowing air. If you're looking for controls for an interior or ceiling, a better idea is to use a wall-mounted control system or a remote control system. This will allow you more accurate control over your fans, so you can adjust the speed easily. Remote controlled fans are really great, since they allow you to control things like ceiling fans without ever getting up from you seat.
