Gas fireplaces are a great addition to any home. They provide cheap, efficient heat, they look great, and they are much easier to maintain than a traditional wood fireplace. If you're looking to buy a gas fireplace or have recently purchased one, you might also be wondering what types of accessories there are that you can add to your new pride and joy.

Gas Fireplace Accessories

Gas fireplace accessories range from the necessary to the useful to the purely decorative. Two necessary accessories are glass doors and a good ventilation system. These accessories will help you keep your fire contained, and will also prevent exhaust gases from entering your room.

Since gas fireplaces don't require the same type of cleaning as wood fireplaces, you're not going to need things like brushes, pokers and shovels. Still, there are useful accessories that you can add to your gas fireplace, like receding screens and remote controls. Remote controls are a particularly neat option, since they allow you to turn your fireplace on and off and even adjust the heat level without getting out of your seat.

There are all sorts of decorative accessories out there for your fireplace, and which ones you want probably depend on the type of fireplace you have. Brick panels are a nice addition to any fireplace--they're mounted on the inside walls of the fireplace and give it a more traditional look. It's also possible to add nice features like louvers or finishing trim to your existing gas fireplace to make it look even better.
