Modern interior design is undergoing a surge in popularity. Furniture and style magazines have begun showcasing modern design to an extent not seen since they '60s and 70s. We're undergoing a "back to the future" period, if you will, where futuristic furniture and architecture conceived of almost a hundred years ago is suddenly the cool thing of the moment.

Advantages of Modern Interior Design

Because of its current level of popularity, modern interior design is an easy way to go. A few years ago, if you were looking to put together a modern room you'd have to collect "antique" modern furniture pieces that would cost you an arm and a leg. Luckily, furniture design houses have begun creating new pieces that reflect and improve on classical modern design.

Because modern interior design is by definition simple, it can be a lot easier to work with than complex pattern-oriented types of design. Modern rooms are supposed to be sparse, which is also an advantage because you don't have to put the room together all at once. Start with a table and a few chairs, and then slowly add pieces to the room as you find them--all the while you'll have a great looking modern room.

If you want to design your home or office in a modern style, there are some amazing ideas out there ready to be found. Contemporary modern designers have come up with some amazing new objects like glowing tables and bendable furniture made from space-age polymers. Advances in chemical compounds and computer aided design have opened up a whole new world of stylish furniture.
