Backyard putting greens are an exciting addition to any property. If you enjoy golfing, you'll love being able to practice on your own putting green that you can install yourself. Putting greens are not just fun; they also provide hours of healthy and pleasurable relaxation, an important benefit in today's stressed-out times.

When it comes to choosing the putting green for your backyard, you can either go with a budget model or a professional-quality putting green. Both kinds can be installed either by you as a do-it-yourself project, or by a professional installation company. You'll save more money with self-installation, of course. If you're the kind of person who enjoys these projects, it will be well worth the time and effort.

Backyard Putting Green Kits

You can install putting greens easily using today's handy putting green kits. These kits generally include written and video instructions, putting green rolls, seaming materials to put the rolls together, regulation cups, a red flag, and a T-handle pole with a ball trap disc. The differences in kit prices are generally determined by the size of the putting green rolls. Less expensive putting green rolls are narrower; often a little more than 12 feet wide. Other putting green rolls come in a width of about 15 feet.

The narrower rolls are cheaper because they ultimately require you to do more seaming work. It's up to you to decide whether the lower price is worth the extra effort of putting together more rolls. However, if you plan on having a small putting green, then the economy-priced kit is probably a good choice for you.
