Home Decorating Trends

Home decorating trends seem to change every year, but to a certain degree some things have a slower cycle. In general, wall colors have been moving for many years away from the plain white of the 1990s, and now run almost the entire gamut of taste and shades. The outrageous colors of a few years ago are starting to find a middle ground with more muted pastel shades. That said, the best advice on trends is to follow your own decorating instincts, and personalize it to yourself.

It seems that blending is the newest approach to decorating, and the one that makes the most sense in some ways. No longer is it considered a faux pas to put an antique hickory table next to a stainless steel bench. Mixing and matching both old and new as well as different styles and designs makes home decorating much easier.

In addition to this, there is an increasing emphasis on personalizing the decor. Whatever your taste is, explore it. Use your favorite color, put up your favorite paintings, and advertise your style. When creating an area, use those from your own experiences to draw on.

Murals of a person's favorite place are increasingly becoming popular inside homes. Imagine looking out on your beloved vacation spot in Hawaii every morning while sipping coffee. This can be done quickly and easily. If you are artistically gifted you may be able to do it yourself.
