Project Time

The project time for a remodeling job can vary considerably. One factor in determining the time is how involved the project is. Obviously, the larger the project, the longer it will take to complete. That is not, however, the only thing that can affect the time needed. Many other factors come into play.

One thing that determines the project time is the number of workers on the team. The more workers that are involved in the work, the sooner it will get done. You should always check on the time allotted for the completion of each phase of the project. When you are getting information from architects and contractors, find out how many will be assigned to your particular remodeling job.

You also need to ask about the kind of equipment that will be used. Some equipment is more timesaving than others. See if they use power tools instead of manual when they are available. That will speed up the work tremendously. It can also make a difference in project time if there are rotating crews that go from one job to the next. See what the policy is if they run into a problem at a site and are scheduled to be at your home.

Get the project time of completion in writing with options if there are delays. The company contracting to do the work desires to complete the job as quickly as you do. That only makes good business sense for them. For really involved jobs, you may be looking at weeks of being inconvenienced. Make plans to be able to handle the change and let the work begin.
