Ceiling Lights

Ceiling lights are one solution to the problem of achieving general illumination. By definition, these are surface-mounted fixtures, located either in the center of a smaller room, or spaced apart in larger rooms. Attached directly to the ceiling, they cast a glow that lights up the entire space rather than highlight or accent any particular part of it. Because they are generally operated using a switch located near the door, these fixtures are a good way to light a space before stepping into it.

Ceiling Lights Add Style and Function

The ceiling fixture has been a staple of homes for many years. One difference between today's fixtures and ones from the pat, however, is the way they function. Modern ceiling fixtures are brighter, more energy efficient and stylish than their predecessors. One past problem with ceiling fixtures was the fact they tended to be dim and boring. Since modern interiors demand well-lit spaces, this became a problem that needed to be solved.

Today's ceiling lights are available with halogen and fluorescent bulbs that burn more brightly than incandescent bulbs. They also are cooler and last longer. Low voltage systems also make it possible to reduce the heat generated by lamps that are in the enclosed space of a ceiling fixture. Modern design also applies to the new ceiling fixtures. Any design requirement that can be met with a lamp or suspended fixture can be met with a ceiling-mounted light.

With the new ceiling lights available on the market today, there is no need to sacrifice style for function or vice versa. Ceiling lighting can add just as much style and function to interior spaces as any other kind of lighting. Some fixtures are available in both incandescent and fluorescent versions, giving the homeowner more flexibility. Dimmers can be added for adjusting the intensity of the light.
