If you want to spruce up the look of your dining room or any other room in the house, you can install decorative ceiling medallions. Ceiling medallions are usually made of some sort of metal or metal finish, such as silver, bronze or gold, or a painting plaster finish. These medallions are installed on the ceiling using either an adhesive seal or heavy-duty screws and mounting devices.

Before you even think about installing any lighting fixture it's important to find the circuit breaker for your home or your apartment complex. With a little patience, you can install any medallion in no time at all. If you currently have ceiling lights in your home, and you want to dress them up with medallions, you will need to remove the lights for installation. This may seem like a daunting task, but in most cases it's quite simple.

Installing Your Ceiling Medallion

Before you install the medallion, you need to mark the area with a pencil or other writing utensil. The last thing you want to do is end up with a bunch of unsightly holes in your ceiling. It's a good idea to check with a home improvement specialist to find out if it's better to use drywall screws or adhesives. Nothing is worse than installing a medallion, and spending the rest of your time worrying about it falling from the ceiling.

Installing a ceiling medallion can dramatically change the look of a room. These devices are often found in dining rooms because they add a level of elegance to existing lighting systems. Rather than installing a low-hanging chandelier, many prefer the simple design of a ceiling medallion.
