If you work from home, you know how important it is to create a comfortable space for your daily activities. No matter what business you're in, you need to have comfortable furniture, adequate storage, and soothing and effective lights in order to achieve maximum efficiency. Creating a comfortable workspace is one of the best ways to increase and sustain productivity in your home office.

When it comes to designing a lighting scheme for your office, it's a good idea to combine a number of different lamps and lights. According to some experts, mixing it up in the office helps to keep people from becoming distracted throughout the day. It's a good idea to equip your office with a combination of directional lights and soft desk lamps or floor lamps.

While traditional desk lamps are most often made of brass, there are a number of other options as well. Tiffany-style lamps are perennially popular, as are mission styles. For a more offbeat or modern look, you might consider going with a color. Blue or amber shades can create coolness and warmth in room, respectively.

Designing Your Home Office

When designing your home office, it's a good idea to avoid furniture and accessories that aren't too shiny or metallic. These materials reflect sunlight more than other matte materials, and tend to create a distracting glare. If you're going for a modern look in your office, it's better to place chrome and silver items to the side of the desk instead of directly in front your line of sight.

When choosing a color scheme for your home office, it's important to select shades that are soothing and calming. There is no hard-set rule when it comes to color selection. In general, it's a good idea to go with the colors you like, or the colors you're most attracted to. If you prefer darker colors, it's important to use more lighting devices, as darker colors tend to absorb light.
