Dimmer Switches

Adding a dimmer switch is a great way to add versatility to the lighting scheme of any room in your home. Believe it or not, installing a dimmer switch is something you can do even if you don't have a great deal of home improvement experience. You don't have to be a professional electrician to install dimmer switches, but you do need to follow directions carefully,

One of the most popular rooms in the home in which to install a dimmer switch is the dining room. You can add a dimmer to your crystal chandelier to change the mood of your dining experience. Softening the lighting in this room creates a more dramatic dining experience. When the meal is over, you can bring the lights back up for after-dinner conversation, or for clearing the table.

Change the Mood of Any Room with a Dimmer Switch

It's not uncommon to find dimmer switches in family rooms, television rooms, or recreational areas in the home. I have several friends who use their dimmer switches whenever they watch movies. They take the lights down as soon as the movie starts to simulate the experience of sitting in a movie theater.

If you're planning on installing a dimmer switch in your home, it's important to turn the power off before you do anything. It's also important to check the power loads for your circuitry. The last thing you want to do is install a new lighting fixture that constantly shorts out the electricity throughout your home. You can find standard dimmer switches and dual dimmer switches in most lighting stores.
