Lights For FishingWritten by Rylee Newton If you’ve ever been fishing during the early morning hours, you know how calm and serene the experience can be. While it’s illegal in many states to stay out on the lake after the sun goes down, you can put your boat in the water at the break of dawn. Fishing in the early morning hours is the best way to catch the big fish before the lake gets overrun with other fishermen. If you’ve ever been fishing in the morning, you know the light isn’t always great. If you don’t have proper lighting, you run the risk of pricking your finger with a fishhook, or getting a hook stuck in your hand. As someone who has experienced the pain of pulling out a fishhook, I strongly suggest you avoid it. Emergency PreparednessIf you own a fishing boat, it’s important to store a flashlight or head lamp on board. I can’t tell you how many times I have been out in the middle of the lake when the motor went out. If you have a head lamp, you can shine light on the motor while using your hands to make repairs. If you plan on fishing in a remote location, or even in the middle of the sea, it’s important to pack a flare or other warning device. These devices are invaluable in emergency situations. It’s important to find a warning device that produces enough light to reach rescue officials even if they’re several miles away.
