Paper LuminariesWritten by Stacy Chbosky Paper luminaries are so many children's favorite Christmas decoration. Kids may like hanging ornaments on the tree, or lining the banister with silvery garlands. They may enjoy hanging up their stockings, and it's always fun to have ordinary towels and soaps replaced with Santa hand towels and snowman soaps. Lighting paper luminaries, however, is hands down more fun. Everyone in the neighborhood can set Christmas luminaria along their front lawns a few days before the 25th. The result will be a perfect, golden string of unbroken lights. Children love it, and adults do, too. Unlike other decorations, which are cute and fun, paper luminaries are somehow mysterious. They cast a spell of otherworldly charm. Paper Luminaries for Other CelebrationsLuminarias aren't just for Christmas and Hanukkah. They are perfect for Valentine's Day. They're great for the 4th of July and Memorial Day. Luminaria is lovely at pool parties, and spooky on Halloween. You can buy decorative sleeves and colorful bags to make your luminaria even better suited to days of celebration. For instance, you can set out red, white, and blue bags for patriotic holidays. Set out bags with doves or hearts for Valentine's Day. Ghost or jack-o'-lantern sleeves make Halloween even more fun.
