Reading LightsWritten by Rylee Newton Every day people all over the world wake up by reading the morning paper, and go to bed with a good book. We spend most of the time in between reading textbooks, business proposals, and just about everything else. When you consider how much time we spend reading every day, it's no wonder there are so many different reading lights to choose from. Many of the reading lights on the market today are designed to provide directional light. This design helps to ensure that reading surfaces are flooded with adequate light. The last thing you want to do when you sit down to read is experience eyestrain, fatigue, or headaches. Using the proper reading light is the best way to avoid these ailments. Selecting the Right Reading LampThe selection of reading lights on the market today is downright overwhelming. One of the best ways to narrow down your choices is to ask yourself what you're going to be using the light for. Floor lamps and table lamps often serve several different purposes. Many people use the same lamp for lighting a room as they do for reading. If you're going to use a lamp for reading, it's a good idea to use one with the shade facing downward instead of toward the ceiling. This helps to ensure the reading material is adequately lit at all times. If you're going to use a multipurpose lamp for reading, it's important to place it properly in your room. When using a floor lamp for reading, it needs to be placed behind the seating area for maximum effectiveness. You also want to make sure that the lamp is situated above eye level to prevent distraction and glare.
