There are many elements to good store design. Without doubt, proper lighting is one of the most important considerations. Without proper lighting, you will find it very difficult to convince customers to even come into your store and have a look around. It will be even more difficult to try to sell them your merchandise. It's not just a question of making the merchandise look good either; it's also important that your customers feel safe and comfortable. Dark stores can be intimidating to customers.

Retail Lighting Strategies

Your retail lighting system will work best if you develop a lighting strategy. Installing as many fixtures as you can is not the answer. You need to plan your fixtures so that they complement each other, and provide you with a great result. Combining different types of lighting is always the most effective plan. This can create a much more exciting effect.

Track lighting is good retail lighting because you can use the track heads to spot light any object you want. Fluorescent lights are strong and bright, cheap to run, and great for illuminating the whole store. Pendant lamps add a personal touch, are pleasant to look at, and easy to hang over counters. There are many other different types of lighting fixtures you can use. If you are in any doubt, consult an expert who can help you pick out what's best for your retail store.

To display objects to best effect, you will probably be better off using low-voltage lamps. Their beam is not so strong so it can be aimed directly at the object to be highlighted. This will enhance the color and texture. Energy friendly fixtures are also a good idea as they save both money and energy. The fixtures should be long lasting and of good quality.
