Fatigue Mats

Floor mats are now seen as a necessary component in many areas of a facility, not just entryways. Using mats specifically designed to reduce worker fatigue is just one of many practical applications for floor mats. Anti-fatigue mats are available for use in a variety of settings in which workers are required to stand for long periods.

Long-term standing poses a number of health risks for workers, much of which are caused by static leg and foot muscles. These muscles, when deprived of frequent movement, are subject to impaired circulation as blood vessels constrict and blood flow is restricted. The result is foot, leg, and back pain and weariness that can lead to strain, decreased productivity and absence from work.

Maintaining Worker Health

Anti-fatigue mats provide cushioning and facilitate small movements in feet and legs. These movements help get blood flowing from the lower extremities back up into the body, providing relief to tired muscles. Anti-fatigue mats are commonly used in industrial and food service settings to provide supportive cover to hard cement and other flooring surfaces.

Anti-fatigue matting is just one consideration for employers who need to protect their staff. Work design is another common cause for workplace injury, and employees subject to uncomfortable repetition are also at risk for muscle pain and health problems. Workers need frequent breaks and changes of position to maintain high morale and productivity.
