Florida Home Inspectors

Florida's legislature is in the process of taking steps to insure that home mold inspectors are regulated as well as certified. One of the regulations they are considering as of April 21, 2004, is requiring mold inspectors to be licensed by the state. This would include proof that the inspector has had field training as well as classes.

A second concern is that Florida home inspectors who search for mold should not be able to then offer their services for the remediation of any problems that are discovered. By separating the two areas of mold control, the legislature hopes to eliminate scams that could cost Floridians unnecessarily. It would, of course, mean that mold remediation specialists would also be required to obtain a state license.

Florida Home Inspectors Online

Fortunately, there are home mold inspectors online who have understood the conflict of interest described above and who have opted to perform one or the other of these services. Finding one of these companies is fairly simple. Most of the reputable mold inspectors online will state up front that they do not engage in both inspection and remediation. In the event that they detect a mold problem, some will offer to provide you with the names of remediation experts they know to be ethical.

Understanding the extent of a mold infestation, including which types of mold are present, is the first step toward eliminating the problem. That's why it's so important to use the services of a qualified and ethical professional when you suspect that mold may be the culprit causing, for example, allergy-like symptoms or emitting a dank, musty smell in your home or business. If your environment presents either issue, take some time to look for a Florida home inspector you can trust.
