New York Moving Vans

When you are planning to relocate to a new place, the size of your old home may be indicative of the size of the vehicle(s) you will need in order to move. If you are moving from one house to another, you will probably need a full-sized truck or even two to accommodate your furniture and boxes. On the other hand, if you are living in a small apartment, you may just need to rent a moving van.

Moving Vans or Moving Trucks?

While it may seem of trivial importance, the size of your moving vehicle can dramatically affect how smoothly your move goes. If you need to use a moving truck, you essentially have to hire professional movers. If you can fit your belongings into moving van, however, which is much easier to drive and park than a moving truck is, there is no reason to pay for the unused space in a truck.

Moving into New York City can be difficult with a moving truck because of the volume of traffic. Moving vans, in addition to being more environmentally friendly than large trucks, are more maneuverable, making it easier to find somewhere to unload the van. If you are moving into one of the other four boroughs, traffic and congestion will not be as great an impediment, but can still be a headache when your life is in boxes.

While you can certainly consider moving yourself with a moving van and two friends, you may want to consider hiring professionals. They will cost a little bit more, but you will not be faced with the burden of loading and unloading, as well as driving and finding parking. Some professional moving companies not only have a fleet of trucks available to them, but make use of moving vans as well to accommodate clients who do not have as much to transport.
