Cooler Bags

Cooler bags are good alternatives for the heavy, clunky, and inflexible plastic coolers most people have learned to deal with. These bags are designed with soft sides to allow more food to be packed in, and to make storage easier at the end of the day. Some even come with expandable handles and wheels so they can be pulled along the ground like luggage rather than lifted and carried.

The trick with these bags is that they are built with multiple layers of high-grade insulate material surrounded by tough but flexible outer fabric. These layers isolate the food and beverage products from the environments of the outside, thereby reducing the amount of heat transfer. Many cooler bags also include an inner reflective lining to reflect temperatures back into the central storage space.

Padded, collapsible cooler bags can also be found in more specialized shapes. Single can and bottle bags are great for individual servings of either hot or cold beverages, while small lunch box-sized bags are best when taking daytime meals on the road. Most are equipped with shoulder straps; others feature backpack-style straps that keep hands and arms free.

Proper Cleaning of Cooler Bags

Most cooler bags can be cleaned with a combination of hot water and soap. Those made of natural fabrics (like cotton) are usually strong enough to be thrown into a washing machine without hazard. Many cooler bags also have removable linings to make the cleaning process even easier. However, heavy bleaches and disinfectants may harm the inside lining; it is best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations on cleaning supplies.
