Fireplace Screens

Fireplace screens are a beautiful addition to a fireplace. A fireplace screen isn't necessary. You can just pull shut the little iron curtain that is usually at the front of the fireplace. Screens come in a pretty wide variety. You can get single screens, or multi-panel screens. They can be plain or intricately detailed.

Fireplace Screens Protect

Fireplace screens are really just spark guards. You don't want stray sparks jumping onto neighboring carpet or people, so the primary purpose is protection. Screens come in all shapes and sizes. You can get screens molded from wrought iron, antique brass, gold, silver, or bronze. You can find them made of glass or metal. You can find any style you're looking for.

Fireplace screens can be plain or fancy. I prefer a plain screen, but I have seen some really cool ones. A friend of mine is an avid fisherman. For his birthday, his wife got him a fireplace screen with an image of a guy fishing. It's fun and looks beautiful when the fire is going and the flames are dancing behind the image. Whatever you may be looking for in a screen to accent your fireplace, it is out there. If for some reason it's not, you could certainly get someone to make it for you.

I didn't grow up with a fireplace and didn't know the endless possibilities with a screen until we started looking at them. Some are incredibly ornate. I've seen one that is gorgeous. It's made like a stained glass window. When the fire is going it reflects warm, beautiful colors around the room.
