Metal Folding Chairs

Folding chairs have been a part of human history for several thousand years. However, it was not until the 20th century that truly efficient metal folding chairs became part of the urban landscape. Metal chairs are now used for a number of different functions and have been utilized for business, domestic, and recreational purposes.

However, the main purpose behind most modern metal folding chairs is to provide affordable seating arrangements for a large group of people. Once folded into a compact position, they are also designed to stack neatly together and are often hung in a corresponding metal shelving unit. In the past, metal folding chairs were uncomfortably flat in the back and seat; today, carefully sculpted molds have made these areas curved to more comfortably conform to the shapes of the body.

What to Look for in Metal Folding Chairs

Advanced styles of metal folding chairs go beyond the simple "X"-frame folding chair by using high tensile steel frames and strong, sturdy polyester fabric. These chairs are built with thinner, lightweight frame poles set into easily foldable positions. Once collapsed, these metal and fabric folding chairs can be packed into bags and carried from one location to the next.

Unfortunately, some metal folding chairs can prove hazardous to children if not properly maintained and cared for. These chairs can rust and break under pressure if left out in the rain for long periods of time. Young children and toddlers can also be pinched severely if the metal frame is incorrectly folded while their small hands and legs are near the area; if the chair has a locking mechanism, please be sure to use it.
