Teak tables are in hot demand in the furniture buyer's market, in part due to their versatility. Tables made of this remarkable wood are crafted for both indoor and outdoor use. This is because teak offers so many desirable properties that people seek in wood.

Teak has been used to make fine furniture worldwide throughout the centuries. Antique tables, chairs, and benches built from teak hundreds of years ago still exist. The Dutch and Scandinavians are often associated with teak shipbuilding and furniture, but it was the Indonesians who first used teak, for that's where it originated.

More about Teak Tables

Teak tables are popular for indoor use simply because of the beauty of the wood. Teak can kept in its natural, unfinished state and perform excellently. It also can be stained, bleached, and treated in other ways to bring out certain colors and sheens of the wood.

As far as outdoor teak tables, nothing stands up better to the elements. Teak is incredibly durable, and this includes its ability to resist water due to its natural rubber content. Strangely enough, teak wood also contains silica, which is a well-known termite repellant.
