Lawn Bags

Lawn bags are a useful tool if you're going to be spending the afternoon raking leaves and cleaning up your lawn. While simple trash bags can sometimes do the trick, they're easy to puncture and typically don't have enough capacity. Lawn bags can solve those problems at a minor cost.

Lawn Bags Make Landscaping Easier

Good, durable lawn bags are usually made from tightly-woven nylon fabrics that can be used over and over again. It's important to choose a sturdy bag, since filling it with things like sticks and even rocks can quickly puncture the bag and render it useless. Canvas bags are also good, but they tend to be heavier than their nylon counterparts.

A good lawn bag will also have four handles--one on each side. This allows you not only to easily pick up and drag the bag around the yard, but also to tie the top together when you're transporting it to a disposal pile. All the best lawn bags are also collapsible, so you can fold them up and store them away when you're not using them.

The main choice you need to make when buying a lawn bag is size. Typically they're rated in terms of gallons--smaller bags have a 20 to 30 gallon capacity, while much larger bags can hold up to 200 gallons. Just be sure when you're filling up your bag that you don't make it so heavy that it's impossible to lift!
