Drinking Water SystemsWritten by Devin Flanigan Drinking water systems that filter out contaminants from your water are a smart investment in your family's health and future. Study after study shows that proper hydration is vital to physical fitness and warding off disease. It is silly to try to improve your health by increasing the amount of polluted water that you drink. Having a steady supply of safe and clean water on tap, on demand, is the first step in improving your health. Bottled water is as finite a resource as it is an expensive one. Planning for the long-term requires making smart choices about a drinking water system. Water, Water Everywhere!Dust and dirt, bacteria and sediment--you might expect to find these things on a dirty sponge or in a vacuum bag, but in your water? Sadly, these pollutants as well as many more are present in most of our water supply. The chemicals and minerals put in our water to counteract many of these impurities can wreak havoc in their own right, usually on our pipes. If your concerns are centered on your drinking water, an inexpensive faucet filter is probably your best bet. If your concerns are broader, or if your local water is particularly hard on your pipes, laundry and bathroom fixtures, a whole house solution might be a better fit. Don't forget to replace your filters on a regular schedule, and sooner if you detect a change in taste, odor or clarity.
