Water Purification Filters

Water purification filters do the work of removing impurities from tap water. There are different types, and each does an important job of getting rid of a particular kind of pollutant. These are of special significance to reverse osmosis systems because they depend on specific types of filters to make tap water more healthy.

A five-stage system, for instance, eliminates 90-96% of impurities by using sediment and carbon filters. These water purification filters remove sand, chlorine, lead, bacteria, and any unpleasant taste and smell! Considering all the unwanted elements that are found in drinking water, these filters do a remarkable job of re-creating the household water supply and turning it into a more healthy product.

Water Purification Filters Do the Job

Carbon filters are probably the most well-known filters, but what may not be as well known are the various sizes and their effectiveness. Some of the filters used in reverse osmosis systems include a 20-inch Big Blue and a 20-inch slim, a 10-inch Big Blue and a 10-inch slim. Aside from the fit of these water purification filters inside the system, the most important characteristic is the micron number.

When a filter is described as "5 micron," it means that it will eliminate impurities of five microns or larger. Obviously, the smaller the number, the better, as far as removing pollutants. Other vital filters include those that take care of sediment and sterilization filters that cleanse the water of elements that might make us sick.
