Custom Home PlansWritten by Helen Glenn Court Do custom home plans seem too far beyond your reach? Think again. There's no reason you can't find and buy or simply build the house of your dreams. It doesn't take a Bill Gates-type income, not by any stretch of the imagination. What it takes are architects dedicated to authentic period design, affordable services, and construction-ready blueprints. Let's say you've done your research. You're familiar with the fundamental styles by which most American houses, new or old, can be categorized--classical, neoclassical, medieval, and modern. You've got your heart set on a bungalow with a porch that wraps around to the left and is shaded by several sycamore trees. You can see it. Every time you're on the Jersey shore, you think about this. Wide steps will lead from a shaded front yard up to the porch, and the porch columns will be square. The cross-gabled gabled roof should have a low pitch, a wide overhang, and exposed false beams. You've seen a number of plans already, with enough square footage. But the floor plan is off. You want to open the kitchen and the dining room into one flowing space, for a start. Can you get custom home plans for it without paying an arm and a leg? Of course you can. Custom Home Plans: InterpretedA designer or architect or builder doesn't need to start with a blank sheet of paper, then, to develop custom home plans. After all, a house is nothing more than four or more walls, a roof, and a floor, surrounded by landscaping. This area is divided into numerous rooms with windows, insulation, and all the basic utilities and amenities that technology affords. Customized plans are nothing more than tweaking these specifications--within the parameters of building codes and architectural standards--to your taste and requests. Go for it!
